HOUSE FLAG FOOTBALL

House Flag Football

OBGC’s Flag Football program is offered as both boys & girls leagues, twice a year in the Spring & Fall seasons.

The season will consist of one practice during the week and one game on Sunday.

Practices: will likely begin in mid-April after Spring Break, but could start earlier if weather permit. Times and days of practices are dependent on the volunteer coaches’ schedules and availability. Once teams are made players will be notified by their coach of their team’s schedule.

Games: will begin in mid-April through mid-June. Dates TBD. Games last 1 hour and are played at OBGC Park on Sundays.

Teams: depending on the number of coaches and players, teams/divisions may be comprised of K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade players. If we cannot get enough girls registered in a specific age group then we may combine with the boys league to become co-ed.

Gear Needed: mouth guard, cleats, gloves (if preferred).

Ball sizing listed below:

  • Ages 9 and under – Size 5 “Pee Wee” football
  • Ages 10-12 – Size 6 “Junior” football
  • Ages 12-14 – Size 7 “Intermediate” or “Youth” football

Cost: $220

**Early Bird pricing is available until Jan 30th then regular prices above go into effect.

Coaches:  We are always looking for good coaches for our children.  All head and assistant coaches are required to pass a mandatory background check.  Our coaches are the backbone for all the Club’s programs and we require that attitude and approach are appropriate for the level and goals of any particular sport. If you are new to coaching or need some inspiration for age-appropriate drills and practices, please take a look at this incredibly helpful free website from MOJO.

All Head Coaches are refunded one registration fee for a child of theirs on the team they coach & their volunteer fee. Two Assistant Coaches per team will receive reimbursement of their volunteer fee at the end of the season.

Please send questions about Registration to obgcadm@obgc.com.

OBGC YOUTH PROGRAM FAN QUOTES

“I wanted to express my gratitude for the financial aid that has supported my kids’ sports activities during a challenging time. While navigating medical issues (breast cancer), this assistance has been a lifeline, allowing my children to stay involved in something they love without added stress on our family. It’s made a real difference, and I’m truly thankful for the help.” – Sports Mom

“Our family has benefited beyond words by the generosity of financial aid from OBGC. Simply put—we would NOT have been able to let our kids play sports without the help from OBGC scholarships. Sports is something that our kids look forward to every Fall and Spring. Rather than stress and worry that we might not be able to afford sports fees, we know we can always trust OBGC to help us give our kids the chance to be physically active and involved with their friends.” – Anonymous

“One of my favorite things about working for OBGC is the financial aid program. Many families would never be able to let their kids participate if it weren’t for this program and they are incredibly appreciative. Being able to offer it and say yes to kids getting to play, who otherwise couldn’t, is extremely rewarding for me. Makes me very proud of the Club, our community and the inclusive nature of team athletics.” – OBGC Volunteer

“The OBGC community is the very best of Olney! We cannot say enough about how this has changed our kids’ lives and allowed us to participate in something awesome… THANK YOU for giving a gift to our family that fills our hearts with gratitude.” – Anonymous

“Without the financial aid, I don’t think my kids will be able to play soccer. It is a big help for me, because I’m a single mom and raising three kids means it’s only one income, so I’m so grateful. Thank you.” – Soccer Mom

“I love sports and my kids do too, but because of how expensive life is without OGBC, we wouldn’t be able to do sports. This is a lifesaver for my family. I have 3 boys and we plan to always support and participate in OGBC sports!” – Sports Dad

“Dear OBGC Family, I would love to thank you for the tremendous help with the financial aid for both of my children in their tee-ball and softball programs…The OBGC community really doesn’t understand how wonderful it is to make my daughter’s dreams possible with your help! For that, I will forever be grateful!” – Sports Mom
