Come and be a part of the next generation of lacrosse players!
Welcome to the home field of Olney Girls Lacrosse. The 2024 season will be the 18th year for Olney Girls Lacrosse and we are proud to note that we have been the program that has helped introduce many of Montgomery County’s successful girls’ lacrosse players to the game. These players have moved on to become Montgomery County, Howard County and Baltimore County club level players, All County, All State and Division I/II/III collegiate players.
Lacrosse is one of the most popular sports in the nation and in high school sports within the Metro area, there are very few true recreational programs that support and encourage youth girls interested in learning the sport.
The Olney Girls Lacrosse program was created to offer youth girls the opportunity to learn, play and love the game of lacrosse. We want to be the best recreational program in the area focused on promoting and educating players, coaches and families in the skill, knowledge, sportsmanship and love of lacrosse.

The girls must have fun first, learning will naturally follow. We welcome and encourage parents to participate in the practices so they too may learn the game.
Practices are 2 times a week- once during the week and one on Saturday morning @ OBGC.
Age Groups- OBGC League Play:
1st-2nd grade
3rd-4th grade
5th-6th grade
7th-8th grade
The OBGC teams usually play in one of the two divisions below:
B Division – For developing players with 1+ years of experience. These teams prepare for and play in a recreational league division that will allow our newer players to be challenged and have success. Players on these teams are looking to develop their skills and game knowledge while competing against similarly experienced teams.
A Division (3rd-8th grade) – For skilled players with 2+ years of experience. These teams prepare for and play in a competitive championship recreational league against similarly experienced players and teams. “A” division players are skilled in the lacrosse fundamentals; ground balls, catching and throwing on the run. They understand offensive and defensive strategy and understand the rules of the game.
Evaluations:
Players for ALL teams (3rd-8th grade) are selected through a Preseason Evaluation process so that we may divide and assign players to a particular “level” team to encourage competitive play, enhance learning and help players gain confidence.
TBD via Registration and Evaluations.
Coaches:
Most of our Coaches are US Lacrosse Level 1 Certified Coaches as well as NYSCA certified.
As a recreational lacrosse program, we rely on volunteers to coach our sports programs. We are always looking for volunteers to get involved with girls lacrosse; with increased interest and player participation, we need coaches to field our growing teams.
We provide NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Alliance) certification training and encourage training through US Lacrosse and other local lacrosse clinics.
If you are interested in coaching, please indicate Coach or Asst Coach when you register.
We will only field teams that have Coaches!
