HOUSE SOFTBALL

House Softball

OBGC is committed to providing you and your player a fun, educational environment in which players learn softball and build their confidence on the field of play. We are committed to providing a safe environment for players and families. Whether a new or returning player, OBGC is committed to your player’s success. We have programs appropriate for all players regardless of softball experience. OBGC fast pitch softball is separated into three divisions based on a player’s grade.

8U – Coach Pitch (Grades K – 2) is an introduction to softball with an emphasis on the softball basics, teamwork and fun. Players use an 11” ball with the coach pitchers placed no farther than 35′ from the plate. Practices are normally one day per week with two games a week during one weeknight and on Saturday. Game and practice schedules will not be available until closer to the season’s start in April. Players must provide their own helmets, bats and gloves; cleats and long baseball/softball pants are highly recommended.

Cost for 8U = $210

10U – Modified Player Pitch (Grades 3 – 5) is the next step in a player’s understanding of softball with the introduction of new fundamentals including pitching, base leading and stealing, and playing with professional umpires calling balls and strikes. At the 10U level, the emphasis remains a focus on the fundamentals, teamwork and fun. Players use an 11” ball with players pitching from 35′. Practices are normally one day per week with two games a week during one weeknight and on Saturday. Game and practice schedules will not be available until closer to the season’s start in April. Players must provide their own helmets, bats and gloves; cleats and long baseball/softball pants are highly recommended. Third graders can register to 10U.

Cost for 10U = $245

13U – Player Pitch (Grades 6 – 8) is the top division of our House Softball program and is a competitive league where coaches reinforce softball fundamentals and introduce more advanced softball strategies and techniques. We continue our focus on teamwork and fun. Players use a 12” ball and pitch from 40 feet. Practices are normally one day per week with two games a week during one weeknight and on Saturday. Game and practice schedules will not be available until closer to the season’s start in April. Players must provide their own helmets, bats and gloves; cleats and long baseball/softball pants are highly recommended.

Cost for 13U = $245

OBGC House Softball has a motivated group of returning coaches in 2025; all of whom have coached for multiple seasons for every House Softball division. We are always looking for new volunteer coaches and assistant coaches so please consider volunteering your time during registration. If you are interested in coaching but may be hesitant due to lack of experience, we are happy to assist in helping you get started by providing practice drills and/or practice outlines while also helping with any questions you may have about the fundamentals or rules of the game. We are committed to building a welcoming and fun experience for everyone involved in OBGC House Softball regardless of experience or skill level.

We will play in a league consortium with teams from Rockville, Clarksburg, Damascus, Poolesville and Burtonsville. Our league consortium makes for great games at great fields throughout Montgomery County.

Thank you for your support of OBGC House Softball.

Please let us know if you have any questions at softball@obgc.com.

OBGC YOUTH PROGRAM FAN QUOTES

“I wanted to express my gratitude for the financial aid that has supported my kids’ sports activities during a challenging time. While navigating medical issues (breast cancer), this assistance has been a lifeline, allowing my children to stay involved in something they love without added stress on our family. It’s made a real difference, and I’m truly thankful for the help.” – Sports Mom

“Our family has benefited beyond words by the generosity of financial aid from OBGC. Simply put—we would NOT have been able to let our kids play sports without the help from OBGC scholarships. Sports is something that our kids look forward to every Fall and Spring. Rather than stress and worry that we might not be able to afford sports fees, we know we can always trust OBGC to help us give our kids the chance to be physically active and involved with their friends.” – Anonymous

“One of my favorite things about working for OBGC is the financial aid program. Many families would never be able to let their kids participate if it weren’t for this program and they are incredibly appreciative. Being able to offer it and say yes to kids getting to play, who otherwise couldn’t, is extremely rewarding for me. Makes me very proud of the Club, our community and the inclusive nature of team athletics.” – OBGC Volunteer

“The OBGC community is the very best of Olney! We cannot say enough about how this has changed our kids’ lives and allowed us to participate in something awesome… THANK YOU for giving a gift to our family that fills our hearts with gratitude.” – Anonymous

“Without the financial aid, I don’t think my kids will be able to play soccer. It is a big help for me, because I’m a single mom and raising three kids means it’s only one income, so I’m so grateful. Thank you.” – Soccer Mom

“I love sports and my kids do too, but because of how expensive life is without OGBC, we wouldn’t be able to do sports. This is a lifesaver for my family. I have 3 boys and we plan to always support and participate in OGBC sports!” – Sports Dad

“Dear OBGC Family, I would love to thank you for the tremendous help with the financial aid for both of my children in their tee-ball and softball programs…The OBGC community really doesn’t understand how wonderful it is to make my daughter’s dreams possible with your help! For that, I will forever be grateful!” – Sports Mom
